General Information
The recycle bin enables deleted files and earlier file versions of a data room to be restored. Every data room has its own recycle bin.
If a file is deleted or replaced by a newer version, the old version of the file is moved to the recycle bin and stored there.
Activating or Deactivating Settings for the Recycle Bin and File Versions for a Data Room
You can only view and edit recycle bin settings if you are a room administrator.
Please note:
Since version 4.10 it is no longer possible to disable the recycle bin. Therefore, the versioning of files is active for all data rooms.
- To view the recycle bin settings, click the pen button ("Edit data room") next to the data room title.
In the Settings tab, you can edit the following recycle bin and file versioning settings:
- Activate recycle bin and file versioning
Since version 4.10 of DRACOON, the recycle bin is always activated. - Remove old files from recycle bin and file versioning automatically
If you activate this function, old files and former file versions are automatically deleted from the recycle bin after a certain amount of time to free up storage space. In the next step, you can determine the number of days (retention time) after which the files are automatically deleted.
If you deactivate this function, the files are stored in the recycle bin until you restore them, explicitly delete them, or empty the recycle bin. - Retention period
Here, you can determine how many days the deleted files as well as the former file versions should be kept in the recycle bin. At the end of this period, files that have been in the recycle bin for longer than the specified time are automatically and permanently deleted.
Opening the recycle bin and file versions
You can view the recycle bin and file versions if you have the permission to view recycle bin and file versions.
- To open the recycle bin and view the files within, click Recycle bin and file versions in the corresponding data room.
Restoring deleted files and earlier file versions
You can restore deleted files and earlier file versions in a data room if you have the permission to restore recycle bin/earlier file versions.
Restoring deleted files
If you would like to restore a deleted file from the recycle bin, proceed as follows:
- In the top right corner, click Recycle bin and file versions.
- Select the checkbox on the left of the file you would like to restore.
- Click Restore.
- Finally, confirm the action by clicking Restore files.
Afterward, the file is restored in its original folder.
Restoring earlier file versions
Wenn Sie eine frühere Dateiversion aus dem Papierkorb wiederherstellen möchten, gehen Sie wie folgt vor:
- In the top right corner, click Recycle bin and file versions.
- To the left of the respective number of previous versions, click .
- Select the checkbox on the left of the file you would like to restore.
- Click Restore selected version.
Permanently deleting selected files in the recycle bin
You can permanently delete selected files as well as earlier file versions in the recycle bin, if you have the permission to empty recycle bin/earlier file versions.
If you would like to permanently delete selected files, proceed as follows:
- In the top right corner, click Recycle bin and file versions
- Select the checkbox on the left of the file you would like to permanently delete.
- Click Delete.
- Finally, confirm the action by clicking Yes, delete file(s).
Emptying the recycle bin and earlier file versions
You can delete all files as well as earlier file versions in the recycle bin if you have the permission to empty the recycle bin/earlier file versions.
If you would like to empty the whole recycle bin and therefore permanently delete all files in the recycle bin, proceed as follows:
- In the top right corner, click Recycle bin and file versions.
- In the top right corner, click Empty recycle bin and file versions.
- Finally, confirm the action by clicking Empty now.
