Login Procedure

There are three ways to log into DRACOON:

• Login via email address (standard procedure)
• Login via Active Directory
• Login via RADIUS server
• Login via OpenID Connect

Which authentication methods you can use depends on which methods the user manager has allowed for you.
As of version 4.13 of DRACOON, every user can use exactly one authentication methods – as a result, the "Authentication method" field for selecting an approved authentication method is no longer displayed in the login form.

If a login procedure other than via email address is to be used, it must first be activated in the system preferences.

The “Reset Password” feature in this case refers only to the login via email address and therefore always resets this password.

Login via email address (standard procedure)

Logging in via email address is the standard setting.

To do so, enter the following information in the login fields:

User name:
The user’s email address.

Password:
The user’s corresponding password.

 

Login via Active Directory

An additional login potion is the login via Active Directory. This feature is only available with the product version “Dedicated” and upwards – if it has been configured by the administrator.

User name:
The respective Active Directory user name.

As of version 4.13 of DRACOON, don't put the Active Directory domain before the user name, e.g. DOMAIN\user name. Even in earlier DRACOON versions, in most cases it is sufficient to specify the user name without domain.

Password:
The password for the corresponding Active Directory user.

 

Unsuccessful logins

If a user login fails three consecutive times due to invalid user data (e.g. incorrect password), an additional login is only possible after three minutes due to security reasons.

 

Accepting EULA / Assigning initial password

When logging into DRACOON for the first time, the license agreement must be read and accepted.

Additionally, the current password must be changed. This password must have a length of at least 8 characters and contain upper and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols. Once an appropriate password has been set, it can be used to log into DRACOON.

 

Forgot password

The “Reset Password” feature can be accessed via the button “Forgot Password?” on the login page.

 

After clicking this button, a user name request will be displayed.

 

 

By entering the corresponding user name and clicking “Reset Password”, an email will be sent to the logged email address. This email contains all information required for continuing the procedure of creating a new password.
